  Катастрофата стана снощи около 21.35 часа в Стара  Загора. По мократа пътна настилка на ул. “Родопи” се е движела леката кола “Фолксваген Голф”, когато на кръстовището с околовръстния път на Стара Загора е ударена странично от движещия се в посока юг автобус “Ман” с чужда регистрация. След катастрофата автобусът и автомобилът са се преобърнали встрани от пътя. Водачът на фолксвагена и трите пътуващи с него момчета са загинали на място. Загиали са и  две пътуващи в автобуса румънки.
